The Facility
The ground floor of Benidon is given over to sitting well. The Lounge runs from first coffee to last digestif — deep chairs, low tables, newspapers on dowels and a fire that is lit the moment the rains argue for it. Meetings happen here; so do three-hour afternoons with nothing to show for them, which we consider the better outcome.
The bar pours from noon to midnight: a serious Negroni, West African bitters, palm-wine cocktails and a cellar that leans French. Small plates arrive from the same kitchen that serves Ìyá, so the standard never dips between meals.
Ìyá itself — our restaurant — holds the far end of the floor. Contemporary Nigerian cooking held to classical technique, served in one unhurried sitting each evening. Tables of one are welcomed as warmly as tables of twelve.
