Benidon
A candlelit table set for dinner at Ìyá by Benidon

Ìyá — The Restaurant

Abia State, plated slowly

Contemporary Nigerian cooking held to classical technique — market produce in the morning, charcoal and candlelight by evening.

The Kitchen

One market, one fire, one long evening

Ìyá cooks what the city brings. Each morning the kitchen walks the stalls of Oyingbo for river fish, ofada rice, scent leaf and star apples; each evening the charcoal grill turns them into a menu that changes with the tide. The cellar leans French, the spice leans home.

Dinner is served in one unhurried sitting. Tables of one are welcomed as warmly as tables of twelve.
